There's a teacher at Lemmon Valley Elementary school who takes challenges head on, and this month she is News Four's Excellence in Education award winner!

Evening anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised special education teacher Beth Cox during a school assembly.

Her principal says she's been changing the lives of students for the last three years at the school with her expertise and dedication.

He says Cox is calm, thoughtful and handles tough situations with composure and self-confidence, but at the same time, has a great sense of humor and can be heard laughing throughout the day.

Cox says she chose special education because every day is different and there are always plenty of challenges and celebrations.

Congratulations to Beth Cox, News Four's Excellence in Education Award Winner!
