Steve Carell raises hopes with prank tweet about 'The Office' revival

Steve Carell knows how to get people's attention.

The star of the "Despicable Me" franchise was a television mainstay for years as Michael Scott, the main character of "The Office."

Carell left the show in 2011, but he's long been associated with the mockumentary's look at a Pennsylvania paper company. Enough that people took notice when he seemingly tweeted about its future.

"Breaking News: "The Office" returning to NBC." Carell told his nearly 5 million followers.

He followed up six minutes later to clarify: "Wait, sorry. I meant "Will and Grace" (Typo)"

The six minutes between tweets was more than enough to light the internet on fire.
