September Jefferson Award

A young man from Gardnerville is doing his part to make sure our troops who are serving overeas are not forgotten and he is the recipient of the Jefferson Award for the month of September.

John-Hentry Lambin started his Touch of Home program two years ago, putting together care packages to send to the troops. The packages include everything from books and CD's to food and hygeiene items. John-Henry even throws in some stuffed animals too. So far he's sent off more than 500 packages as a way of showing his appreciation for the job our men and women do protecting our country. We asked John-Henry how he feels about helping out this way.

"It makes me feel very useful in that there's a purpose to everyone you meet and everything that you do. And as long as you can make a difference in another person's life then its definitely worth doing," he says.

News 4 and Wells Fargo congratulate John-Henry Lambin for his commitment to helping others. His volunteer spirit embodies what the Jefferson Award is all about.

If you know of someone who deserves to be honored for their community service, send us a letter here at the station, 1790 Vassar Street in Reno, 89502. We look forward to hearing from you.
