The mother of the second 12-year-old said in a statement that she also doesn't believe her son was an intended target.

A seventh-grade gunman wounded the two boys and killed 45-year-old Landsberry before turning the gun on himself before classes started Monday morning.

Police have not released the name of the boy and haven't offered a motive for the rampage.

      Full Statement from Jennifer Davis:

Hi I'm Jennifer Davis the mother of Mason one of the victims of the sparks middle school shooting. I'm here to make a statement about my son and the incident.

On Monday morning Mason was hit with the bullet to the abdomen, which exited through his backside. we are happy that he is on the road to recovery and is doing well in fact she's already up and about. He is in good spirits although saddened by the loss of his friend Mr. Landsberry. From what we've learned from others at the scene of masons first instinct was to intervene and he did all he could to help Mr. Landsberry. We do not believe he was in anyway targeted in the shooting. It is my understanding that he was trying to help Mr. Landsberry at the time he was shot.

I just need to have it as a result of this incident I will be getting involved with issues run gun safety in the hopes preventing these kinds of situations in the future.

Our whole family is grieving over the tragic deaths this week. We appreciate the sport we have received from Dads convenient store in Sparks and want to think the entire community for their prayers and support during this difficult time.
