Dog and cat duo make history at Nevada Humane Society

Reno, NV (KRNV & -- A dog and cat duo are making history at the Nevada Humane Society by being the first ever dog and cat to be roommates while they wait for a new home.

Monkey Man, a Chow mix and Bwaney, a Persian cat have known each other their entire lives. So, when they were given up to the Nevada Humane Society by their owner, who was suddenly hit by tough times, NHS employees knew the duo had to stay together.

Kimberly Chandler, the Communications Manager at NHS, says since Monkey Man and Bwaney share such a strong bond they are looking for a family who is willing to adopt both of them, "These two animals are truly best friends and they really do deserve a home together."

Though both pets are considered seniors, Monkey Man is 7 years old and Bwaney is 9 years old, Kimberly says they are still young at heart, "He (Monkey Man) just has such a desire to please people, ya know, you ask him to sit, he sits, he shakes, he stands up and he begs, he's just adorable."

While a lot of cats prefer to do their own thing, Bwaney is just as friendly as his buddy Monkey Man says Kimberly, "He (Bwaney) is very accepting of people coming in and getting to know him."

Now they are just waiting on a family that's as friendly as they are.

If you are interested in adopting the unlikely pair you can visit the Nevada Humane Society at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno.

If you are over the age of 55 you can adopt both pets for free through the "Senior for a Senior" Program.
