The KittyKafe will be a cat cafés opening in Reno and working with Nevada's Humane Society to bring in adoptable cats to lounge in a special area of the café until they find their forever home.
Cat cafés are very popular in Japan and have begun to pop up all over the world with successful cafés located in London and Taiwan. There are plans in the works to bring cat cafés to North America in Montreal and Vancouver, Canada, Portland, OR and Oakland and San Francisco, CA.
Owner of the planned Reno café, Heather Howell, is a Reno local who first heard about cat cafés in Japan a few years ago and has been planning to open one up here in the US ever since. She is currently looking for the purrfect location in Reno to host the café. Since health department rules usually do not allow animals in a restaurant, the cat longue will have to have its own entrance so that no kitty paws set foot in the food service area. With this in mind, KittyKafe will be organized into three main areas; a food service and café seating area, a cat and human lounge, and a
cats only hideout.
KittyKafe will be working closely with Nevada's Humane Society to make sure that the cats in the café are safe, happy and healthy!
To make this dream a reality, KittyKafe has a crowd-funding campaign going until the end of July to help pay for the startup costs of the business. For anyone interested in helping to bring this exciting destination to Reno, you can check out all of the details at www.kittykafereno.com or contact Heather Howell at (775) 771-1828.
